Flying again

I gave up trail running over a decade ago after a some plantar fasciitis sidelined me. I am thrilled to report the BOA Fit System worked flawlessly and my feet feel great when running in the SL: PDX's. So much FUN hitting the trails and the sticky tread bottoms make me feel in complete control over damp, wet, muddy, and mossy PNW surfaces too. THANK YOU Speedland team, you guys rock!

I Cut the Lugs

I am a person with wide feet and some other little niggles like Metatarsalaga that have caused me to try every other shoe imaginable, always having to compromise some thing in the fit or performance. Well, I found THE shoe in the PDXs. As I have read the BOA System on the shoe turns out to be one of my favorite features. I’m able to keep the forefoot wide, while locking down the heel. I have also read a lot about whether to cut any of the lugs depending on the climate you live in and the season. For this kind of money most people I think don’t, but I believe that’s a mistake and you do not get the full performance. I ran in them without cutting them and there was quite a bit of flex with the lugs, then cut them last night using the suggested diagram for more dry climates (I live in Colorado Springs, Colorado), and today I descended a technical trail with about a 40° slope and completely crushed it. I find the harder you push yourself, and thus the shoe, you will see more of the engineering coming through.
I don’t think I’ll buy another shoe and feel completely comfortable paying the price because I feel this way. I normally wear a size 10, but went up half a size to 10.5 given my wider feed. I think they stay generally true to size though. Great customer support, with very quick response times. Lastly, The return policy is an industry setting standard. They allow you to actually use them outside of your living room and if not satisfied can send them back. Which I doubt one would do.
