First 100mi attempt

Attempted my first 100mi run in the GS:TAM with the carbon plate. Gave myself 2 weeks to break in the shoes before the race. I'm pretty sure the plate in my right shoe was rotating slightly out of the indentation in the insole meant to keep it in place during some initial break in runs. Stopped briefly to take the insole out and adjust which was admittedly easy with the boa system, but still considered adding some double stick tape or something to keep the plates from moving during the race.

Ultimately never did add any tape to the shoes and I didn't notice or suspect the plate was moving during the actual race.

I don't know how much of a speed boost I got from the plates at my 12-15min/mi average, but there was some piece of mind knowing my feet were pretty well protected given how rocky and technical the trails were during this race.

Either way, would still recommend and buy again if given the choice. Awesome pair of shoes for anyone logging big miles on trails. They held up especially well to the extremely sharp and technical stuff we were running on.

Game changer

I have the hardest time finding shoes that fit my feet well (wide feet with bunions). I’ve tried so many different types of shoes because of this (Altras, hokas, Arc’teryx, on running, Saucony, Nike for some examples) and never felt like I got the right fit. I always felt like I was compromising having a wide toe box and sacrificing having a mid foot that hugged my foot well and felt controlled (or the opposite). These are an absolute game changer. My only regret is not having them sooner and burning through so many other brands. These are expensive, but so well worth it to find something that works perfectly for me. All I need now is an identical model but outsole for road like the version Don had for his tread record

Wild Shoes!

These are probably the coolest, best made pair of athletic shoes I've ever purchased. The attention to detail is amazing. Super comfy. Thanks

Love them

I didn't have then 2 hours before getting them dirty on a technical 5 miler with hills, rocks, roots and some mud. The shoes did not disappoint! I really liked being able to adjust the BOA laces precisely to fit my foot. I was able to make some adjustments after the first mile that got them dialed in.
